At Light Orlando, our mission is to unite churches, charities, and government agencies across Central Florida in a shared effort to illuminate and inspire HOPE through action. A key part of how we pursue this mission is by building strong relationships with organizations already doing transformative work in our communities. One of the ways we foster these connections is by hosting intentional networking events that encourage collaboration and shared impact.
Recently, we had the privilege of hosting a Lunch & Learn gathering at Edgewood Children’s Ranch, one of our community non-profit partners that exemplifies compassion, structure, and long-term commitment to healing children and families.
Located in Orlando, Edgewood Children’s Ranch has been faithfully serving children and their families since 1966. Their work centers on helping children overcome behavioral challenges that often stem from traumatic life experiences, offering each child not just a second chance, but a solid foundation for lifelong transformation.
A Program That Transforms Lives
Edgewood Ranch provides a comprehensive program rooted in three pillars—Family Care, Cottage Life, and an Academic Program; that work together to support the full restoration of each child.
Family Care focuses on healing the family unit, equipping parents with resources and support to rebuild relationships and provide a healthier home life.
Cottage Life gives children a safe, nurturing residential setting where they learn responsibility, love, and structure—modeled by caring house parents.
The Academic Program offers individualized education through a low student-to-teacher ratio, helping students who may be behind catch up and eventually return to a traditional school setting prepared and confident.
The children served at Edgewood Ranch have often been labeled as “at-risk,” “rebellious,” or “troubled,” but at the Ranch, they are seen for who they truly are: young lives full of potential, worthy of love and hope.
A Christ-Centered Mission
Edgewood Children’s Ranch operates without federal or state funding, choosing instead to rely on private donations, corporate sponsorships, and local churches. This model allows them to maintain their strong Christian values while opening their doors to families of all backgrounds—regardless of race, religion, or income level.

To equip and empower children to thrive through love, structure, education, and biblical values.
With a vision to be a trusted facility for healing and restoration, and values rooted in structure, integrity, respect, family, fun, hope, and personal growth, Edgewood Ranch offers more than a program—it offers a path to purpose.
A Call to the Community
During our Lunch & Learn, local non-profit leaders were given a powerful first-hand look at Edgewood Ranch’s facility, mission, and needs. We walked through classrooms, cottages, and heard testimony about the life-changing work taking place every day.
We were reminded that community transformation requires collaboration. Whether you represent a church, government agency, school, or business, there is a role you can play.

Give Financially – Help bridge the $3,200/month per child gap between tuition and actual cost.
Pray – Lift up the children, staff, and families in prayer.
