On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Light Orlando volunteer family came together for one of our most impactful service events of the year, our Annual Community Closet Clothing Clean Out. Together, volunteers sorted, organized, and prepared thousands of clothing items for community distribution, each one intended to bring dignity and hope to individuals and families across Central Florida.
“The clothing received from the Light Orlando clothing drive serves the most vulnerable population in our community. These items are distributed – twice a week – to those who are in need. This brings HOPE to many and the Gospel message of the gift of salvation available to all. Light Orlando is a dedicated partner in mission and they make our community a better place to live.”- Major Ken Chapman, Salvation Army Orlando Chapter
Overcoming Clothing Insecurity: A Community Impact Worth Celebrating

Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors and the dedication of our volunteers, this year’s Community Closet Clothing Clean Out made a measurable impact across Central Florida. Together, we collected, sorted, and helped distribute an astounding:
14,975 gently used clothing items
16,456 brand new clothing items
15,120 toothbrush and toothpaste sets for adults and kids
3,655 pairs of new sandals, slides, and aqua shoes (special thanks to Universal Orlando)
480 belts
Over 1,200 pairs of donated shoes
400 pounds of rice to support hunger relief efforts
In total, that’s 50,866 items donated, each one a tangible expression of care, hope, and support for families in our community.
Throughout the day, volunteers worked tirelessly by:
Receiving generous donations from community members
Sorting items by category- men’s, women’s, children’s, professional, casual, and more
Folding and bagging clothing to streamline distribution
Fulfilling specific requests from partner organizations
Loading vehicles with thoughtfully selected items to deliver directly to local charities
Thanks to these efforts, each and every item donated found a new home—supporting countless people in need with essential clothing. But more than that, it offered them a renewed sense of dignity and belonging during difficult times.

“Thanks to the generous donation from Light Orlando, 50 women who volunteer with us from a local shelter were able to come and personally select clothing items. The remaining clothes will be distributed throughout the community, helping as many families as possible. We are so grateful for working together with Light Orlando.” - Samantha Espanosa, One Heart Foundation for Women and Children
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every volunteer, donor, and partner who made this event possible. This event wasn't just about clothing, it was about community, compassion, and connection. The sight of volunteers, clad in Light Orlando blue, serving side by side with joy and purpose was a beautiful reflection of what’s possible when we unite for something greater than ourselves. By coming together, the volunteers made a tangible difference in the lives of those who are struggling with clothing insecurity in Central Florida.
With each Light Orlando event, we are reminded that as individuals, we can shine bright, but when we work TOGETHER we can shine a light so bright the WORLD can see it.
We’re already looking forward to next year, because when we come together, the impact is undeniable.
