On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Light Orlando gathered the community for its 5th Annual Community Christmas Service Project, marking the final Light Orlando Service Project of the year and closing out the season with generosity, compassion, and unity. From 6:00 PM to approximately 9:00 PM, nearly 435 volunteers came together for three impactful hours of service focused on spreading hope and meeting real needs across Central Florida.
The Community Christmas Service Project brought together individuals, families, church groups, and community partners under one roof to serve side by side. Volunteers were encouraged to bring donations of new socks or children’s underwear, and the community responded in an incredible way. By the end of the evening, donations collected included 776 pairs of socks, 424 children’s underwear, and even two pairs of slippers- simple items that make a powerful difference for those in need.

Three Service Projects, One Shared Mission
One of the highlights of the evening was the ability for volunteers to participate in three different service projects during a single service event, allowing everyone to use their time and talents in meaningful ways.
Snack Bag Assembly
Volunteers assembled 320 snack bags, providing ready-to-go nourishment for individuals and families experiencing hardship. These bags will help meet immediate needs while offering encouragement and care.

Stuffing “Stockings” for Children and Seniors
A large portion of the evening was dedicated to assembling bags for both children and seniors in our community:
120 children’s bags were prepared, each thoughtfully filled with a coloring book and crayons, a toy, and essential hygiene items.
An incredible 2,000 bags for seniors were assembled, including hygiene products, kitchen essentials, entertainment items, and safety supplies- offering comfort, dignity, and joy to older adults during the holiday season.
Crafting with Love
Creativity and compassion filled the room as volunteers crafted heartfelt items by hand. Together, they created:
97 warm fleece blankets, providing comfort during the cooler months
116 friendship bracelets, small but meaningful reminders that someone cares
These handmade items added a personal, loving touch to the donations being distributed throughout the community.

Community Partners Making an Impact
The impact of the Community Christmas Service Project extended far beyond the event itself. Donations and assembled items will benefit several incredible organizations and community partners, including:
Starlight Ranch, a 55+ low-income community (in partnership with Calvary Baptist Church)
Fern Grove, Pendana, and Magnolia Towers- low-income senior living communities in partnership with Commissioner Shan Rose, District 5, City of Orlando
Each partner plays a vital role in serving vulnerable populations across Central Florida, and Light Orlando is honored to support their missions through collaborative service.

Ending the Year by Delivering Hope
As the final service project of 2025, the Community Christmas Service Project was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared purpose. Through donated items, assembled care packages, handcrafted gifts, and countless volunteer hours, hope was delivered in tangible ways to children, families, and seniors throughout the region.
Light Orlando extends heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer, partner, and supporter who made this evening possible. Together, we didn’t just prepare bags or donations, we shared love, dignity, and light during the Christmas season and beyond. We look forward to continuing this mission in the year ahead, delivering hope together- one service project at a time.
