On Wednesday, August 5, Light Orlando gathered with nonprofit and community leaders for another Lunch & Learn, hosted by the Central Florida Hope Center in Winter Garden.
The August Lunch & Learn gave participants an opportunity to learn more about the Hope Center’s mission, programs, and the many ways it is working to connect individuals and families with resources throughout Central Florida. The gathering also highlighted an exciting new chapter for the organization as the Central Florida Hope Center and West Orange Dream Center come together as one ministry.
A Community Resource Hub
The Central Florida Hope Center serves as a community resource hub designed to help individuals and families overcome barriers and find pathways toward self-sufficiency.
The organization brings together churches in the Winter Garden area to provide accessible, life-giving solutions to everyday needs. Rather than addressing each challenge separately, the Hope Center serves as a one-stop location where families can connect with multiple resources in one place.
Its mission is simple: to unify communities to make life-giving solutions accessible to everyday people.
Through its four core programs, the Hope Center provides support in areas that can have a significant impact on individuals and families, including food security, employment, immigration, and personal and family support.
Four Programs Serving the Community
Food Pantry
The Hope Center’s Food Pantry provides nutritious food to families experiencing food insecurity. Weekly distributions include fresh produce, proteins, and pantry staples, helping families put food on the table while navigating challenging circumstances.
Job Placement
Through its Job Placement program, the Hope Center helps adults prepare for and find employment. Services include resume building, interview preparation, career training, and direct connections with employers in the community.
Immigration Services
The Hope Center also provides immigration assistance through professional representation and case management. Services can include guidance related to visa applications, green card processes, and citizenship pathways.
Life Solutions
Life Solutions provides encouragement and family support for individuals, families, and groups facing challenges in everyday life. The program focuses on building resilience and helping people access the support they need to move forward.
Together, these programs reflect the Hope Center’s commitment to addressing the whole person and connecting families with resources that can help them build a stronger future.
A New Chapter: The Hope Center and West Orange Dream Center
One of the exciting updates shared during the Lunch & Learn was the recent merger between the Central Florida Hope Center and the West Orange Dream Center.
The West Orange Dream Center officially became part of the Central Florida Hope Center in 2026, bringing the two ministries together under one organization.
As part of this transition, ministry operations are moving to 1136 East Plant Street, while the former 1010 S. Dillard Street location will be expanded as a thrift store. The additional space will allow the organization to expand its operations and continue serving the community.
A celebration marking the official completion of the merger is planned for November 7, 2026.
Hope in Action
At the heart of the Central Florida Hope Center are four values: Compassion, Excellence, Community, and Hope.
These values guide the organization’s approach to serving families and building partnerships throughout Central Florida.
The Hope Center believes in meeting people where they are with empathy and respect, delivering services with integrity and accountability, working together through community partnerships, and fostering resilience and opportunity for those they serve.
That emphasis on community and partnership is also what makes organizations like the Hope Center an important part of the Light Orlando network.

Hope Thrift Store
The Central Florida Hope Center also operates the Hope Thrift Store, where shoppers can find quality used items at affordable prices while supporting the organization’s community programs.
The thrift store accepts gently used donations including:
Clothing and accessories
Furniture
Books and electronics
Housewares and kitchenware
New toys and games
Every purchase helps support the Hope Center’s programs and makes it possible to continue connecting families with valuable community resources.
