Join Us in Making a Difference: Volunteers Needed for the Light Orlando Community Closet Clothing Clean Out
Each year, Light Orlando brings the community together for a powerful day of service through the Light Orlando Community Closet Clothing Clean Out, and this year is no exception. This impactful initiative helps provide essential clothing and supplies to local charities serving individuals and families across Central Florida.
To make it all happen, we’re calling on dedicated volunteers to step in and help turn generous donations into meaningful support for those in need.

What Volunteers Will Do

Volunteer responsibilities include:

Last Year’s Impact
The impact of this event is nothing short of incredible. In just one day, the community came together to sort and distribute 56,098 new and gently used items to local charity partners.
These donations included:
16,000+ articles of clothing
750+ pairs of shoes
Beyond the numbers, these items directly support individuals working toward stability, whether that’s preparing for a job interview or simply having something clean to wear.

Real Impact in Our Community
After the event, all sorted donations are distributed to trusted charity partners serving Central Florida. These organizations work on the front lines, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and families navigating difficult circumstances.
“We see a lot of people who are experiencing homelessness, some who are with their kids living in their car, some who are living in camps in the woods, so this just helps us make sure that even if it’s a day or two worth of clothing we can give them something clean and ready to go. It’s just really nice to give them this little dignity piece where they don’t have to be in the same outfit.” - Samantha Espanosa, One Heart for Women and Children
Moments like this highlight how something as simple as clothing can restore dignity, confidence, and hope.
Be Part of the Impact
Whether you come on your own, with family, or as part of a group, your time and effort will directly impact our community.
